MRS ANNIE HUGHES, RIP

28th Apr 2021

The Board of Governors, Principal, staff and pupils of St. Joseph’s Primary School, Galbally, deeply regret the death of their esteemed friend and colleague Mrs Annie Hughes.

Mrs Hughes was a dedicated and loyal member of staff who always placed the needs of the children front and centre. Having taught at Crosscavanagh, she was one of the original teaching staff members to join St. Joseph’s when it first opened its doors in September 1970, enjoying a storied career moulding the young minds of Galbally and its neighbouring areas.

In January 2020, we were delighted to welcome her back to the school in advance of our 50th year celebrations alongside other members of the original teaching staff, where she shared many stories and memories of her time at St. Joseph’s (pictured, front row, far left).

Mrs Hughes’ passing brings with it added poignancy and solemnity for all connected to the school, as we mark our 50th year.

While we are filled with sadness, we also recognise and celebrate her life and career at St. Joseph’s, in acknowledgement of the positive impact she had on our school community and those who she taught.

She will be sincerely missed.

Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to the entire Hughes family circle, may she rest in peace.

St. Joseph pray for her.
